Peru April 5-19, 2027 tentative Itinerary (watch for route change):


Day 1--Flight from SLC to Lima, Peru


Day 2- Lima City tour, visit local sites, one of which is the 500 year old External link opens in new tab or windowFrancisco Church (complete with catacombs!). 

Day 3, 4, 5--Flight to Amazon Basin of Peru (External link opens in new tab or windowPuerto Maldonado area)

3 nights at a External link opens in new tab or windowjungle lodge where we will stay in private bungalows, have
nature tours, animal sightings, night safari looking for caiman and other animals, parrot spotting, jungle lake tour, monkey island, visiting native community, etc.

Day 6, 7, 8--Travel to External link opens in new tab or windowCusco, capital of the Inca.. tour External link opens in new tab or windowTemple of the Sun, Visit museums, and several smaller Inca sites using Cusco as our base city.  We
plan to visit a rural school as well, where we will take humanitarian supplies, etc.


Day 9--Travel to the External link opens in new tab or windowSacred Valley where we will visit the External link opens in new tab or windowCcochahuasi Animal Refuge
where you will see local Peruvian animals including the amazing condor.  We will visit a market in External link opens in new tab or windowPisac.  Also on the itinerary for today will be External link opens in new tab or windowUrubamba (buffet lunch included), Incan ruins of External link opens in new tab or windowOllantaytambo, where we will catch a train to External link opens in new tab or windowAguas Calientes, the closest town to the spectacular city of Machu Picchu.


Day 10--External link opens in new tab or windowMachu Picchu tour.  Optional:  Climb External link opens in new tab or windowHuaynapicchu..(this could be
one of the most amazing things you'll ever do :)  Then catch the train back to Cusco.

Day 11-- Free day in Cusco. Your choice of activities..  Wander the streets of this fascinating cobble-stoned city and possibly see some local museums where you can check out Incan artifacts and also some mummies, rest, etc.

Day 12--Tourist bus to External link opens in new tab or windowPuno (Lake Titicaca)  Along the way visiting ruins of External link opens in new tab or windowRaqchi and External link opens in new tab or windowAndahuaylillas.  We will have a buffet lunch on the way.

Day 13--Tour of External link opens in new tab or windowLake Titicaca where we will visit the fascinating reed islands constructed by the Uros Indians and see how they live there.  (We will visit church community located on these reed islands as well)

Day 14--Fly back to External link opens in new tab or windowLima  We will spend the rest of the day in the Lima area before our late night flight back to SLC

Day 15--Arrive in Salt Lake City
